Sims 2 Seasons [21 Feb 2007|03:00pm]
JEEEEEZ.

All right! My simmies are in for it. The new Sims 2 expansion pack is coming on March 1st, so... here's to backing up files and securing my hacks. The jist of it is: WE GET WEATHER. Yeah? Meh. I'm more interested in the cooking stuff they're adding, and the fireflies you get to catch. They can keep their rain. :D

The Sims 2: Seasons (March 1)

I did some checking around today and we found out that there are two 'Stuff Packs' coming out in April and June. Stuff Packs are low-number mini-expansions with a handful of items that don't serve much purpose and cost $20 a piece. This will make 5 all together. There was Family Fun Stuff, Glamour Life Stuff and Happy Holiday Stuff... now we have:

The Sims 2: Celebration! Stuff (April 19)
The Sims 2: H&M Stuff (June 21)

So, thanks Maxis, for costing me hundreds of dollars and hours and possibly dates. Thankfully, I don't need dates anymore. But dollars and hours are sweet and precious things to me.

But I'll be buying most of these anyway.

MY BIG QUESTION: What the hell does 'H&M Stuff' mean? So far we have family-oriented fun, highlife luxury ('executive themed'), and holiday goodies. It looks like we'll have things for weddings and birthdays in 'Celebration Stuff'... So, thinking back on my old Sims expansions and themes within the games... I've come to a few possible options. As for actual titles, good luck.

Something automotive themed.

Something along the lines of 'Superstar' from the original game - like Hollywood stuff, celebs. I guess they wouldn't put out 'Celebration' then 'Celebrity'.

Rob insists that 'M' is for movies.

Maybe something entertainment themed in general, because there really isn't a lot of that. Nothing interesting in the games about reading or gaming or films.

We have University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets and now Seasons, so any topics under those have been covered, but I guess there's room for elaboration.

If any of you have any guesses, be they serious or simply for your amusement about 'H&M' lemme know. :D

V-Day, if you will... [15 Feb 2007|11:24am]
Hello! I started this entry last night but I got distracted with a series of phone calls and some good news. Huzzah! Anyway, about yesterday, which has been fondly nicknamed 'Singles Awareness Day'... went well for Rob and I.

It was the first one we'd spent together where one or both of us weren't working - and oddly enough, I was unemployed all day until we returned home and Dad said I'd gotten a call about a job. So, now I'm working at a local video store, surrounded by a donut shop and a Mexican place, filing films and sitting on a stool behind a counter watching the film selections of my choice on a little TV across the room.

Counter. Stool. Doughnuts. Little screen. I'm like a security guard, man. Sweet. Anyway, it'll be fun and I can get some moolah, so all is well. Crisis averted for the time. So, between Rob and I, we have three jobs, two cars and a monster black lab that broke her tie-out this morning and has to be caged all day. So this is love.

Speaking of which - we got up, we got ready and we wandered over to Olive Garden where we ate the following goodies, not necessarily in this order:

dinner! )

After we ate, we went to the Mills Mall, and after realizing we'd missed the afternoon showings of everything, we got two tickets for Dreamgirls and wandered on our way through the mall. It was surprisingly empty. Rob picked me up a "Magneto Was Right" t-shirt for eight or nine bucks, and a Nightmare Before Christmas throw, which is huge and lovely, for ten bucks - both at Hot Topic. I don't feel so old and lame going in there, anymore. Rob pointed out that most of the merchandise is based on things that WE grew up knowing and loving, and know more about than the teenyboppers that are in there buying the hell out of it. Also, we're still younger than all of the crazies that work behind the counter and wear all the wacky piercings and such. Anyway, we're not as lame as I'd imagined, it seems.

We stopped in the food court and grabbed a HUGE soda from Popeye’s (because it was cheap) and decided that we wanted to head home, rather than stay for a six-thirty showing of an Eddie Murphy movie (sorry, Beyonce). I'll rent it (at my JOB!). So, we came home and we were here for a while and Dad finally remembered that I'd gotten a call not an hour earlier about a job. I called them back (after he figured out who it had been) and they told me to come up Friday and start training. Praise Allah.

So - I'm employed and I had a damned good day.

SWAG COUNT:

Rob - a Willow Tree collection hanging carving I bought at Hallmark, it's a couple in an embrace. He had been wanting the 'figurine' or 'statue' version, but, it wasn't technically my money that I was spending, and we'd just gotten a car, so I didn't want to push the limit. He also got a kick ass Star Wars Valentine's card that sings the theme when it opens and has R2 on the back. Cute. ^_^

Becky - Anna Nalick's CD, with three bonus tracks that have been eluding me in my online download searches. I had most of the tracks - but the few I didn't have were groovy listening on the drives to and from dinner and the mall. I also got a dozen roses, a huge balloon and a bag of mixed sugar-free and regular candy; so I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with myself. Lol. And then, I guess, the t-shirt and throw from the mall. Oh! And in his card to me was a bank account book that had one entry of '$100.00'. The card explained that he'd opened a savings account specifically for our wedding. (Which will be sooner than later.) Very sweet and thoughtful.

Also, while at the bookstore in the mall, I found a book called "Writing Graphic Novels for Dummies". I'm not a dummy, but I could use some help, and I decided to pick up the pencil again and start on some different styles and such. It can't hurt, eh?

Along the same line, Rob and I discovered Marvel Zombies (image) which is a line of comics that have been published, starring heroes such as Spider-Man, Wolverine and the Fantastic Four - all as zombies, in an alternate universe. Oooooh, the art was nuts. It seems to be pretty popular, actually, so, if I thought there'd be any sort of story involved, I'd pick it up. But... it's just zombies... killing people... as superheroes. Meh. Rob was overjoyed, though. That's all. I gotta get ready for my day of puppy-proofing and slackery. Cheers!

2007 Movie List - Becky style [28 Jan 2007|09:28am]
This will be constantly edited and updated! Movie reviews will be posted after I've seen some of these films. :)

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (VI) - usual cast - a few come backs. This one looks so promising...

Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End (III) - fitting how they used 'end' in the final installment - and also a blessing. It's over. Finally we will see this monster of a trilogy through and be done with it. Fine.uh.lee. I love Pirates, kids. But, well, it's been too long and too much and they story is turning to dried seaweed. Thanks for wrapping it up!

The Simpsons Movie (I) - long time coming - usual cast - perhaps the end of an era (fan can only hope).

Tinker Bell (I) - Brittany Murphy. Kristin Chenoweth. Cool. We shall see.

Shrek The Third (III) - The final? installment of ogre-based cgi...animated...whatever. I bet I'll go and laugh and buy it on DVD. But I can't say much else at the moment. Onto the rest of the cgi green guys...

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (I) - oh hell yes! Patrick Stuart, Kevin Smith and Billy West. Here's hopin'.

Spider-Man 3 (III) - I'm not a fan of these films, and I don't own any of them, but I would like to see what they've cooked up for the finale. Hope it kicks ass.

Sweeney Todd (I) - Johnny Depp. Tim Burton. Helena Bonham Carter (who has apparently replaced Winona Ryder and Christina Ricci, huzzah!). I know what you're thinking... Burton does Broadway? With Depp? Oh, we all knew it was coming. I just can't wait for a horrendous version of Nightmare Before Christmas to come to the stage.

Alice (I) Sarah Michelle Gellar as Alice - based on American McGee's version of the story (video game).

Bee Movie (I) See for yourself.

Fanboys (I) - popular teen-nerd actors, a handful of sci-fi legends, the trek to see Star Wars: Episode I before any other nerds... Priceless.

Miss Potter (I) I don't like Renee Zelwhatever. <----for those who know how much of a stickler I am for proper spelling can tell right now that I really don't like this woman. I do like Ewan McGregor - and the film is about writing, women's rights and slightly fantasy-themed. So... this is a major maybe. But damn, it's hard to look at her face.

Hairspray (I) - Christopher Walken. James Marsden. Right on.

I, Lucifer (I) & Number 13 (I) - Ewan McGregor: need I say more?

Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium (I) - Dustin Hoffman. Natalie Portman. An ancient toystore owner hands his empire to the meek, femme store manager. Ok, I'm interested. That's about it.

The Other Boleyn Girl (I) - Natalie Portman. Scarlett Johansson. Sisters! Period film! Who saw this coming? Oh, and Eric Bana.na.

The Nanny Diaries (I) - Scarlett - again. But there's hope in Paul Giamatti and Chris Evans (the crack up Human Torch in the awful Fantastic Four).

Show Business documentary - muck-raking journalist and private issues in the world of Broadway. With Rosie!

Interest Without (Much) Info:
The Season of the Witch.
The Secret Drawer Society.
The Secret World of Superfans (documentary).
Snow Princess.
Soulmates (I wasn't sure to put this here or on the 'Shame List').
Superhero!.

Shame List:
The Sandlot 3.
Saw IV.
Shrek the Halls (TV).
Silk.
Smiley Face.
Epic Movie (this was a toss-up between interested and Shamed... but I saw Date Movie).
Hannibal Rising.
Bridge to Terabithia.

A few in-depth looks. All right, first - for no particular reason:

Tinker Bell - Starring Brittany Murphy (seen looking Tinkish or like Evita...) and Kristin Chenoweth (Cheno, seen here always looking fairy-tastic). Now, I used to have a problem with Brittany Murphy, but from what I've read, she seems enthusiastic about the part (c'mon folks, Tink's an icon) and her performance in Happy Feet was far better than Nicole Kidman's ever hoped to be. So, here's to Brittany not messing it up. Kristin Chenoweth, who played Glinda the Good Witch in Wicked and will voice the role of Disney Princess Rapunzel, well, she's okay in my book. (*Cheno fan*) Anyway, there are only a few other voice talents signed, and they are children, so, we'll see how this goes - slated for release this year... I'm thinking in the fall. Word is that they're waaaay behind schedule. But we'll know a little more in March when the special edition of Peter Pan is released on DVD. The plot follows a similar line that the big Disney franchise 'Disney Fairies' has laid - with it's books and toys and puzzles, etc.

I'm not sure when I did this last, but... [27 Jan 2007|11:12am]
HELLO!

Well, here I am.

So, here's an update, on maany levels.

I've been on LiveJournal a lot lately, but I've spent most of that time posting and working on icons. Here are the fruits of my labors: (and don't judge me)

[info]iconfluence
[info]fairydusticons

The rest of my time has been dedicated to the great networks -

The Food Network (where I love Iron Chef America, Ace of Cakes, Good Eats, Everyday Italian, Feasting on Asphalt, Thrown Down, Unwrapped and anything else that isn't Rachel Ray or Emeril.)

Home and Garden Television (HGTV - where I love Designstar, The Painted House with Debbie Travis (don't judge me), Design to Sell, I Want That!, Mission Organization, and my favorite - What's Your Sign? Design)

and to my ever-thriving love of critters: rescue strays - a St. L based shelter and organization that do a lot of work in this area with strays and abandoned pets, etc. Please check 'em out. They're just getting started (a year or so now).

In my personal, Becky-based life, well. I'm keeping busy with all that business, and have recently purchased a 2001 rice rocket Mitsubishi Galant. It's pretty awesome - all clean and sparkly and stereo-tastic. And it isn't from the 80s. For people, that's cool. But my car was an antique. Unfortunately, Rob is still driving that one. But hopefully soon it won't be an issue because he'll be off doing pushups and not driving.

My online life has severely dwindled in the past few weeks, because I've been job-hunting. I've found one, and interviewed twice. It's taken a week or two (for this specific company; Cingular) and damn, I wish they'd tell me something. I'm the only one up for this job, and for some reason, I have to wait for 'call backs' on Monday. So, when I find out, I'll edit this and let you all know.

Until then,

I gotta jet. Meeting that crazy guy of mine for lunch (or something) during his Wally World shift. So, bye!

:)

Oh, and to Claire - GET WELL SOON! You're the gear that keeps the Eversman-clock working, lady. Feel better, take care of yourself.

Halloween! [03 Nov 2006|12:03pm]
[ mood | bouncy ]

Rob and I hosted a little get-together on Halloween featuring some Imo's Pizza, almost 20 pounds of candy and a bunch of wine coolers.

Sarah, Jorge and Danny came up, and we watched two Tim Burton films (The Nightmare Before Christmas & Beetlejuice), and had a pumpkin-carving extravaganza.

Rob and I had been decking out the yard for weeks, with the help of Chris, Claude and Jordan, and we bought a lighted arch for this year and future purposes and finally stuck it outside as well to guide the trick-or-treaters.

When the jack-o-lanterns were all done, we put them out on our porch railing and lit them and waited.

We got one trick-or-treater... and I was in the bathroom when she came.

Oh well. We had lots of fun and ended up breaking the toilet. LOL.

Dan was cool enough to take some pictures of the event with his phone (just the jack-o's).

Here are some of the pictures, and there will be more later, as we still have most of the jack-o-lanterns in good condition and I'll have a camera by this evening.

Sims 2 Pets [25 Sep 2006|11:46am]
Sims 2 Pets - soooo far away... three whole weeks. Woe is me.

So, to keep myself busy, I've made a list of breeds I've found listed on the Sims2.com site and via images from the game. Breeds that aren't listed can be created in the game and saved as a breed, so that'll be cool. You can pick a breed with a similar build or size and exit the coat and other physical features (from ear position, style and size to facial features to tail thickness and length, whee!) and edit it to make the breed you want. I think that's nifty. There are a lot of small dogs missing, but you can fix 'em up, like I said. I'd like to see Rat Terriers and Miniature Pinschers on here, or even regular Dobermans. C'est la vie.

DOGS
Airedale
Akita
Basenji
Beagle
Boston Terrier
Boxer
Chihuahua <----doggy I want!
Chow
Dalmatian
English Bulldog
French Bulldog
German Shepard
Golden Retriever
Great Dane
Husky
Jack Russell Terrier
Labrador Retriever (Black & Yellow) <----my doggy!
Pointer (some sort, maybe several)
Poodle
Pug
Rottweiler
Schipperke
Shiba Inu
Weimaraner

CATS
Abyssinian
American Shorthair
Chartreux
Bombay / Burmese
Manx
Maine Coon
Norwegian Forest
Ocicat
Russian Blue
Scottish Fold
Siamese

That is all, I am through.

[05 Sep 2006|12:35pm]
Crocodile Hunter - 1962-2006 - RIP

I was really (surprisingly, and not because I didn't adore him) shocked to find that Steve Irwin had been killed. It really hit me hard. I spent most of the day moping around and a good portion of the morning in tears after learning the news on Yahoo! Messenger from Jordan. (We later went to Wal-Mart and hung out and it helped keep my mind off of it all.)

Steve Irwin has been a part of my life since I was twelve years old. I'm now twenty-one and I have to say I felt like I knew this man and his family - Terri, Bindi and Bob.

Some people might say that 'he had it coming' or 'it was a matter of time', but I really don't think so. I think that he was a talented, well-educated man, an incredible conservationist and a lucky guy.

What happened was, as they have been saying, 'freak'. If you haven't heard or read, please do so here: @ CNN.com.

Though, I can't help wondering a few things:

They say he died doing 'what he loved'. Pulling a sting ray stinger out of his heart while drowning?

Also, everyone said, "he was so young!" He was 44. Also, he dealt with deadly animals on a daily basis. I'm not sure where his age came into play in relation to his death. Men die of heart attacks at 35.

Anyway, personally, for me, Steve was an inspiration. As an earth-friendly lady (I admit, sometimes I'm similar to Creature) I really admired him for his work in conservation, whatever continent it was on. Also, he made watching nature shows much more enjoyable and educational. And he's the reason I want(ed) to go into Animal Control in the first place. After being the caretaker of a black lab pup for almost half a year now, I think it's still something that'd I like to do. I just need to make that happen. But, this isn't all about me - I will sorely miss Steve and his programs and his message. He was a great man, from what I've read and heard, a good daddy, and a dedicated environmentalist.

And because I'd like to end on a positive note - Rob and I were all prepared to be Steve and Terri Irwin for Halloween last year (which is our favorite holiday, so it was pretty serious) and at the last minute, we discovered that Rob cannot do an Australian accent. Quick search on eBay - Jurassic Park patches - instant Park Rangers. So, in memory of Steve, I'll be removing my JP patches and putting them away, and when I wear the khaki shirt, it'll be for him and what he's done. Rest in peace, Steve.

PISSED! [17 Jun 2006|03:22pm]
[ mood | bitchy ]

I would like to officialy revoke my issued thank-you to Brett Ratner.

Bec, and I quote: "Brett Ratner, thank you for taking the hot seat. You did what you could with what was given to you."

Brett Ratner, and I quote: "Ellen Page is my gift to the franchise."

Ellen Page. Shadowcat. Kitty Pryde.

Joss Whedon (Firefly, Serenity, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel) was one of the writers for the Uncanny X-Men series. In that series, the story arc for the 'cure' came into play. He was responsible for the plot of the X-3 film. He also directed and befriended an awesome young actress Summer Glau who he personally wrote an audition script for, for the role of Kitty Pride, and sent her along.

She is a trained acrobat/dancer/combatant, and a talented actress who very much looks the part. She also played a girl-genius (which Kitty Pryde is) in Firefly and Serenity, a series and major motion picture. She was denied the part, and Ellen Page (who mucked up an already lame role) because she was favored by late-comer and lameass Brett Ratner.

REVOKE!

And I'm finished.
